While not exactly new, I think this is fun and worth sharing. Starring Cisco and his phone. Yea it’s a long phone commercial, but it’s a fun one.


Fox picks up Seth McFarlane Sci-fi Dramedy



Fox has picked up direct to series, a new sci-fi show created by Seth McFarlane. The series, to star McFarlane, is slated to air during the 2017-18 season, and has been picked up for 13 episodes.

Currently untitled, the series is set “300 years in the future. The show follows the adventures of the Orville, a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth’s interstellar Fleet. Facing cosmic challenges from without and within, this motley crew of space explorers will boldly go where no comedic drama has gone before.”

Tracking the 2016 Broadcast Pilots

Every year, Deadline: Hollywood follow the development of the broadcast network pilots prior to the May up-front meetings with advertisers, where they announce the line-up for the upcoming television season. Before the up-fronts, they look at the attention the pilots are getting from their contacts at the networks. What I have done here is boil down their comments specific to SF&F specific pilots.

The Handmaid’s Tale coming to Hulu



Hulu, with MGM Television, is producing a straight to series adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, reported Deadline Hollywood.

The Handmaid’s Tale is set in the dystopian Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted religious fundamentalism that treats women as property of the state.

Actress Elisabeth Moss is slated to star.
